The Minister of Local Self-Government, Mr. Ivan Stoilkovic, today held a working meeting today with the United Nations Resident Coordinator in the country, Ms. Rita Columbia, the UNDP Resident Representative, Mr. Armen Grigorian, and Ms. Kalinka Gaber, Project Manager - UNOPS.
On the meeting, which was held in a constructive atmosphere, was discussed current and future projects, as well as opportunities for improving cooperation in the direction of supporting municipalities, encouraging inter-municipal cooperation, and creating conditions for more balanced development of the regions.
The focus of the conversation was on the projects implemented through UNDP, in partnership with the Ministry of Local Self-Government, with special emphasis on "Strengthening Municipal Councils" and "Building Municipal Capacities for Project Implementation".
The interlocutors also exchanged views on future plans and activities, with a special emphasis on initiatives that can contribute to strengthening local capacities, improving the conditions for development and implementation of projects of direct interest to citizens.
At the meeting, it was assessed that there is significant space for further deepening cooperation and specifying future activities, to create additional opportunities for the development of municipalities and improving services and living conditions at the local level.
In that direction was confirmed the joint determination to continue the partnership and develop specific initiatives aimed at strengthening local self-government and supporting local communities.
